RE: Trail etiquette.

Back in the summer of 2006 I was out riding in the Horsefall Oregon dunes and I noticed a couple of Banshees riding along the same areas that I was. I thought nothing of it. When they went into a steep treed area and didn't come out I investigated and saw one of them had gotten stuck. I went down to help out. They behaved strangely and I should have known something was up. They weren't really concerned with their prediciment. They were concerned with me. All the same, I showed them how to get out of their mess and off they went. Later that day I was at the Horsefall dayuse area having a sandwitch and saw the 2 guys ride in. I went to the toilet and came out and one of them approached me and said, "You're an A$$-hole on the forum." They quickly got on their Banshees and split. They were about 18-19 yrs old and I figured they recognized me from the pics I've posted. They also didn't like me very much. I went back to my sandwitch and beer. After a while I was ready to ride again. I went up to my quad and discovered the seat had been cut. Kids these days....

RE: this place is dead!!!!!

Let's see now.... A) A couple years ago there were about 250+/- posts per day. (Not counting the post whores) B) Over the past couple years there have been a hundred +/- newbie's. C) There are a few select ones who have a far greater sense of self worth by dumping on everyone they can. Hmm... nope.. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

RE: Self-Defense Loads

No lawsuit, obviosly the first thing that comes to peoples minds. Me, no record. The angry drunk swinging a kinife at me and later found to have a small amount of coke on his posession, a quite long record. He had no serious wounds thanks to the shot shell. Just a little bleeding. Other whitnesses saw the whole thing. When he first pulled the knife he just held it up and was talkin sh*t. I just had my hand on my gun, not pulled yet. When he started swinging, I jumped back into his friends. He got too close for me, I drew my gun, threw the slide back and fired one round. The only thing I did wrong, which the police "overlooked", was to have my gun INSIDE the bar, and not in my vehicle. so that right there would have been a violation of your concealment permit, which i am sure you lost if the aforementioned story is true, not to mention the gun. Don't bet on it. The last time I pulled a gun on an intruder (and didn't fire) the cop acted like he didn't even care. He scribbled a few notes down but left it at that. I was amazed...completely amazed. I guess "almost" doesn't count. The LAST time you pulled out a gun?? Do you have poor judgement when a weapon should be pulled or what?? How many times have you pulled guns on people? I think more than 1 time in your life pulling a gun on a person and not firing shows pretty poor judgement or lack of ability to difuse a situation with other means. Take a look through my posting history. You'll appreciate your life a whole lot more when you see the s%$t I've been through in mine.

RE: Self-Defense Loads

That may be the case, but it can also escalate the situation. You'll never know until the other guy runs away or pulls out a gun. Good point. Luckily for me, they changed their mind. You never know how deep the puddle that you're about to crash into is ... until it's too late.

RE: Self-Defense Loads

My life was in danger. And my ego ... well... My buddy's have called me Mr. Spock many times. I don't pull a gun to satisfy anything like that. However... it's a really good point.. that if you pull the gun and don't shoot, you can get nailed for manacing (or worse). But I think a reasonable officer/judge/jury would accept my "If I can stop a deadly situation by pulling a gun WITHOUT shooting; well that's better than shooting another person" argument.

If I can stop a deadly situation by pulling a gun WITHOUT shooting; well that's better than shooting another person. I can attest to the reality of that particular scenario.... so can the witnesses and police officers that were a part of it.

RE: Michigan & Wisconsin riders

Found it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- POSTED: August 7, 2008 MARINETTE, Wis. - Marinette County District Attorney Brent DeBord has issued details from interviews with Scott J. Johnson. Johnson, 38, is accused killing three teens and injuring one at the East Kingsford train bridge on July 31. DeBord's complete statement follows: "Johnson stated that he was born and raised in Kingsford. He said that he had spent four and one-half years on active military duty and another four years as a member of the National Guard. At the time of the shootings, he was living with his mother in Kingsford, Michigan. Johnson said that he had been living with his mother in Kingsford since December 2001." "Johnson stated that he felt like he had had a lot of stress in his life, but he stated this did not justify his actions. He stated that at one point in his life he had been going to college, had held two jobs, attended Officer Candidate School, and had a wife and children. He stated that no matter how much he worked back then, it never seemed like it was enough He stated that he felt like every time he was about to obtain something, it was taken away." "Johnson stated that he had been having thoughts about doing something like this for four or five years. He reports that things were set in motion on July 30 around 3 p.m." "Johnson stated that he had kept bags with different gear, including weapons and ammo, hidden in various locations for four years. He stated that the sole purpose of his hiding this equipment was for when a day like this came." "Johnson stated that on July 30 he went with a female acquaintance for a bike ride. He said he had met this female in January. He had seen her at a store and started talking to her. He saw her out a lot and gained her trust. He stated that he went with the female out to the area near the East Kingsford railway bridge on the Wisconsin side of the border." "This was near the area where he had hidden his weapon and gear. There he sexually assault her. This was around 8 or 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening, July 30." "He said that the female fought back and he was unable to complete the assault. After the assault, he reports that he talked to the female and hoped that she would not call the police." "Johnson said that he returned to the area of his home in Kingsford, but did not go directly to his house. Rather, he stayed hidden and watched to see if law enforcement would come. At around 11 p.m., he saw a police car drive slowly past his house." "Johnson said he then returned to the woods on the Wisconsin side of the Menominee River near the East Kingsford railway bridge where he had his equipment hidden." "There he waited for law enforcement to come and investigate the sexual assault. Johnson stated that his plan was to kill any law enforcement that arrived. No one came and he spent the night of July 30 in the woods." "Johnson stated that on Thursday morning, July 31, he returned home to Kingsford at around 10 a.m. He asked his mother if the police had come looking for him. Johnson said that his mother said they hadn't. While at home he ate, explained to his mother that the police might be looking for him, and that he would 'duck out and come back.'" "Johnson said that he left for a while, and returned at around 3 p.m. At that point, his mother told him that the police had been looking for him and had left a card asking for Johnson to call." "Johnson stated that he then went to a Subway restaurant to eat because he expected to go to jail. Johnson said that at this point, he was evaluating his options. Johnson stated that he did not want to be listed as a sex offender. Johnson stated that he had nothing to lose and the only power he had in this life was 'to take.'" "Johnson stated that he was still weighing his decision, but decided to go back into Wisconsin and 'get geared up.'" "Johnson stated that on July 31 at approximately 4 p.m. he returned to Wisconsin by crossing the East Kingsford railway bridge. At the bridge, he saw some teenagers swimming in the river. He reported that he counted eight teenagers." "Johnson stated that he kept a duffle bag with some equipment hidden near a blown down tree. He had kept the items there for a year or two." "He reported that he kept the gun hidden nearby in a rock face and wrapped in plastic. He also had an ammo box with .308 cartridges hidden separately. He stated that he looked around to determine the best area from which to shoot. He decided that the best place to do it was from on top of a hill where he could lay down and 'turkey shoot.'" "Johnson showed investigators on a map the location of this hill. The hill was located on the Wisconsin side of the Menominee River." "Johnson stated that at this point he was sweating and still debating whether he could go through with this." "Johnson told investigators that four of the teenagers deviated from what he expected by climbing up from the river near his position. He had expected the teenagers to climb up from the river at a different place and cross back over to Michigan. He had planned that once all of the teenagers were back in Michigan, he would shoot them so they could act as 'bait' to lure in law enforcement and first responders. Johnson stated that his plan was to shoot anyone who showed up to help." "Johnson told investigators that he was startled by the teenagers who came up on his right hand side, and he felt trapped. Johnson stated he jumped up and began firing." "Johnson stated that he saw a couple of people fall. Johnson stated that he began to reload. Johnson reported that he emptied a couple of clips and estimated that he fired around 17 shots." "Johnson stated that he shot at a number of people, and that all the shots he fired were fired from the Wisconsin side of the Menominee River." "Johnson reported that he considered reloading and firing again. Johnson stated that he then decided to stop and evaluate his options." "He spent the night in the woods near the East Kingsford railway bridge." "After spending the night in the woods, Johnson decided to turn himself in." "Before exiting the woods, he disabled the firearm in a way so that law enforcement could see that the gun was disabled. He exited the woods near the railroad crossing on County Highway N in the Town of Niagara, Marinette County, Wisconsin and complied with directions from authorities." "Johnson was then taken into custody." For further details, see today's Daily News. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That dude is gonna hang.

Michigan & Wisconsin riders

A couple weeks ago there was a news story about a guy who strolled out of the forest and opened fire on a bunch of teenagers who were swimming in a creek. While the cops searched for the guy, a woman reported being raped by him earlier in the day. The guy was caught. T^he net was abuzz with the story until he got caught. But now I can't find anything on this story. What's going on in this case? Anyone know? Thanks!

I've ridden the outlaw. The IRS definitely keeps you glued to the trail. The 525 displacement is nice too. Good all-around quad.
